UK Disposable Vape Ban: What You Need to Know

By Salman EssapPublished: May 15, 2025 05:57 AM Updated: May 15, 2025 05:57 AM

From June 1, 2025, the UK will ban the sale of disposable vapes. This includes any device that’s single-use, non-rechargeable, or non-refillable—even if it doesn’t contain nicotine.

The government is introducing the ban to tackle two big problems: the sharp rise in youth vaping and the growing environmental damage from millions of disposable vapes being thrown away every week. There’s strong public support behind it, and the goal is clear—protect young people and cut down on waste.

If you’re someone who uses disposables, this change affects you directly. But don’t worry—there are legal, easy-to-use alternatives that deliver the same great experience. Keep reading to find out exactly what’s banned, what’s still allowed, and what to switch to before the deadline hits.

UK Disposable Vape Ban: What You Need to Know

Key Dates to Know

January 29, 2024 — Ban Officially Announced

The UK Government officially confirmed its plan to ban all disposable vapes as part of the Tobacco and Vapes Bill. This move followed growing pressure from health experts, environmental groups, parents, and educators, all raising concerns over rising youth vaping and the mounting waste caused by single-use vapes.

Public consultations showed strong support for the ban. The government responded with a clear plan: protect young people, reduce plastic and battery waste, and push the vape industry toward more sustainable alternatives. Retailers across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland were given over a year to prepare.

June 1, 2025 — Ban Comes Into Force

From midnight on June 1, 2025, the sale and supply of disposable vapes will be illegal in the UK.

This includes:

  • Online vape stores
  • High street vape shops
  • Corner shops and petrol stations
  • Major supermarkets and convenience chains

The ban applies to all single-use vapes, whether or not they contain nicotine. Any business still selling them risks:

  • Fines of up to £5,000
  • Prosecution and prison sentences (up to 2 years)
  • Seizure of non-compliant stock
  • Cost recovery notices for enforcement and investigation efforts

Final Restock Deadlines

We’ll continue to sell legal disposable vapes right up to the deadline—but availability will get tighter as June approaches.

Some international brands may stop shipping to the UK early to avoid compliance issues. Popular flavours are expected to sell out by mid-May, and no new shipments will arrive once we reach the cut-off.

If you’re still using disposables, we recommend stocking up before May ends. Better yet, this is the perfect time to try a refillable or rechargeable device while there’s still time to test what works best for you.

Last Legal Day to Buy

May 31 is the final day you can legally buy disposable vapes in the UK. After that, they’ll be pulled from all legal retailers—including Vape and Go.

If you rely on disposables, now’s the time to make the switch. Test out a refillable pod kit, explore your favourite e-liquid flavours, and get used to your new setup before the ban kicks in.

Need help choosing a device or finding the right flavour? Just reach out—we’ll help you make the transition as smooth as possible.

Why the UK Is Banning Disposable Vapes

Youth Vaping Is Out of Control

Disposable vapes have become the go-to nicotine product for teenagers. Their small size, fruity flavours, and flashy designs make them look more like sweets or tech gadgets than age-restricted items. Many are sold for just a few pounds, making them easy for teens to get their hands on—even though selling to under-18s is illegal.

Recent surveys show the scale of the problem:

Schools report students vaping in classrooms, toilets, and even during lessons, creating a serious disruption and health concern.

The UK government sees this ban as a direct way to protect kids from nicotine addiction—and it’s just the start. Expect stricter rules on flavours, packaging, and ID checks next.

Environmental Waste from Single-Use Devices

Around 5 million disposable vapes are thrown away every week in the UK. Most end up in landfills, bins, or littering the streets.

Each single-use vape contains:

  • A sealed lithium battery (fire risk in bins)
  • Plastic parts that don’t break down
  • Toxic materials, including leftover nicotine, lead, and mercury

These devices are not designed to be recycled, and most users don’t know how to dispose of them safely. The environmental damage adds up fast:

The ban is part of a national plan to cut plastic pollution, reduce battery waste, and shift the market toward refillable, longer-lasting vape devices.

Health & Safety Regulation Enforcement

With the rapid growth of the vape market, some disposable brands ignored UK safety rules. Problems included:

  • Nicotine levels above the legal limit
  • Puff counts well beyond the 600-puff cap
  • Missing or misleading labels
  • Devices designed to look reusable but still treated as disposables

This lack of oversight created a grey area in the market—with some manufacturers exploiting loopholes by adding fake charging ports or multiple pods.

Banning disposables allows UK regulators to focus enforcement on safer, compliant products. Refillable, rechargeable vapes must meet stricter standards under the Tobacco and Related Products Regulations (TRPR) and MHRA guidance.

The goal isn’t to ban vaping altogether—it’s to clean up the industry and make it safer for adult users, the environment, and especially young people.

Which Products Are Banned?

Starting June 1, 2025, the UK will ban the sale of all single-use or disposable vapes. If a vape can’t be refilled with e-liquid and can’t be recharged, it will be illegal to sell or supply—no matter the nicotine level.

This includes:

  • Nicotine-containing disposables
  • Nicotine-free disposables
  • Big puff devices with built-in multi-pod setups
  • Devices with fake charging ports or pods that can’t be refilled

The law defines a disposable vape as any product not intended or designed for reuse. So if it’s meant to be thrown away after use, it’s covered by the ban.

What’s NOT Banned?

You can still legally buy and use:

  • Refillable vape kits
  • Rechargeable pod systems
  • Reusable mods and tanks with replaceable coils

To stay on the market, a vape device must meet all three criteria:

  1. Rechargeable battery
  2. Refillable tank or pod
  3. Replaceable coil or heating element

These options will continue to be available at Vape and Go after the ban starts, and they’re already the top choice for customers switching away from disposables.

Banned Products We Currently Stock

All the disposable vapes listed below will be removed from sale before June 1, 2025, in line with the UK’s new ban. These devices are not refillable or rechargeable, so they fall under the definition of single-use vapes and will be prohibited.

Hayati Pro Ultra 15000 Puffs

The Hayati Pro Ultra 15000 Puffs is built for maximum puff count and long use, making it a top choice for heavy vapers. It features pre-filled multi-pod sections and a powerful built-in battery. Since it’s not designed to be refilled or recharged, this device will be banned after May 31.

Hayati Pro Max 4000 Puffs

The Hayati Pro Max 4000 Puffs is one of our most in-demand disposables. It delivers strong flavour, consistent performance, and a high puff count in a compact design. Like all single-use vapes, it's covered by the upcoming ban and will no longer be available once the law takes effect.

Elf Bar 600 Disposable Vape

The Elf Bar 600 Disposable Vape is known for its ease of use, wide flavour range, and sleek style. It’s often the first vape users try when switching from cigarettes. Unfortunately, it’s fully disposable and not refillable or rechargeable, so it will be removed from sale by the June 1 deadline.

Lost Mary BM600 Disposable

The Lost Mary BM600 Disposable combines strong flavour with a unique compact design. It’s ideal for on-the-go vaping and quick hits throughout the day. However, since it's a single-use product with no refill or recharge option, it’s included in the list of banned items.

Elf Bar AF5000 Disposable Vape Kit

The Elf Bar AF5000 offers a unique pre-filled pod system with a high puff count. While it’s designed for extended use, it doesn’t meet the requirements for being fully refillable and rechargeable, so it’s also covered by the new ban.

If you’re currently using any of these products, we suggest transitioning to a refillable or rechargeable vape kit before they go off the shelves. Need help picking the right alternative? Get in touch with our team—we’re happy to help.

What Are the Best Alternatives?

The upcoming ban on disposable vapes doesn’t mean the end of your vaping journey—it’s just time for an upgrade. Refillable and rechargeable devices are already the go-to for vapers who want better performance, bigger savings, and a lot more flavour variety. They’re easier on your wallet and far better for the environment.

If you're switching from disposables, don’t worry. There are plenty of options that feel just as smooth and convenient, with the bonus of longer-lasting value and customisation. Here's what to look for.

Refillable Pod Kits

Refillable pod kits are the natural next step if you love the simplicity of disposables but want something you can reuse. They’re compact, stylish, and super easy to use. Just fill with your favourite e-liquid, charge, and you’re good to go.

Elf Bar Elfa Pro Pod Kit

The Elf Bar Elfa Pro is one of the easiest transitions from disposables. It uses prefilled replaceable pods with mesh coils, giving you the same bold flavours and smooth hits you’re used to—just in a rechargeable format. The fast type-C charging means you're back to vaping in no time, and the slim design feels just like your favourite Elf Bar 600 in your hand.

IVG Air 4 in 1 Rechargeable Vape Kit

If you like having options, the IVG Air 4 in 1 Kit is a perfect match. It comes with four flavour pods in one compact device, so you can switch between them instantly without needing separate vapes. It’s fully rechargeable, portable, and made for users who want variety without the bulk.

Angel 2400 by Vapes Bars

The Angel 2400 by Vapes Bars bridges the gap between disposable convenience and reusable value. This 4-in-1 rechargeable device offers four flavour pods in a single unit, a long-lasting battery, and a design that feels just like a disposable—but without the waste. It's perfect for anyone making the switch who wants minimal fuss and maximum flavour.

Rechargeable High-Capacity Kits

Hayati Pro Max Plus 6K

The Hayati Pro Max Plus 6K is compact but packed with performance. It offers up to 6,000 puffs in a sleek, rechargeable format with rich flavour delivery and a consistent throat hit. It’s a strong choice for users moving up from Hayati Pro Max or similar devices.

Hayati Pro Ultra Plus 25K

The Hayati Pro Ultra Plus 25K takes things to the next level with a massive 25,000 puff capacity. It’s rechargeable, smooth, and made for serious vapers who want all-day reliability without switching devices. This is the powerhouse upgrade for anyone who loved the original Hayati Pro Ultra.

Best-Selling E-Liquids

Explore our range of e-liquids to find flavours that match your preferences. Whether you're into fruity, menthol, or dessert flavours, there's something for everyone. If you need assistance choosing the right device or flavour, feel free to reach out to our team. We're here to help you make the best choice for your vaping needs.

Save Money Every Month

Disposable vapes might seem affordable at first, but the cost builds up quickly—especially if you're going through one every day or two. Most users don’t realise how much they’re spending until they look back over a few weeks or months. With refillable kits, you only need to buy e-liquid and the occasional replacement coil or pod. Both are inexpensive and last significantly longer than a single-use vape.

By switching to a refillable device, you can cut your monthly vaping costs by nearly half. It also means fewer trips to the shop, fewer panic buys when you run out, and way less plastic heading to the bin. It's a smarter, cheaper, and more sustainable way to vape—without sacrificing flavour or satisfaction.

Keep the Flavours You Love

Think your favourite disposable flavours will disappear after the ban? Don’t worry—they're not going anywhere. Most of the top flavours used in disposables, like blue raspberry, mango, watermelon ice, cola, and menthol, are already available in bottled e-liquids. You'll find the same great taste in a wide range of strengths and blends that work perfectly in refillable pod kits and vape pens.

Whether you prefer a smooth nicotine salt hit or a stronger throat kick from freebase liquid, there’s a flavour and strength for every style. E-liquids range from 0mg to 20mg and are fully TPD-compliant, so you know you're vaping safely and legally.

If you're unsure where to start or which liquid matches your current disposable, we’re happy to help. Just drop us a message and we’ll recommend a setup that feels familiar, tastes great, and fits your needs. You're not losing flavour—you’re gaining choice.

If you're not sure where to start, we’re here to help. Just message us—we’ll match you with the right kit based on your current disposable.

Already Own a Disposable Vape?

Still have some disposables lying around? That’s totally fine. The upcoming ban only applies to selling and supplying disposable vapes—not using them. So if you’ve stocked up already, you can keep using what you have without any legal issues. But there are a few important things to know after June 1, 2025.

Can You Still Use Them After June 1?

Yes, you can. The law targets businesses, not individual users. If you've already purchased disposable vapes before the deadline, you're still allowed to use them at home, outside, or wherever vaping is permitted. There's no rule against owning or using disposables after the ban starts—just no buying or selling them within the UK.

Can You Buy Them After June 1?

No, not legally. From June 1, 2025, it will be against the law for any business in the UK to sell disposable vapes. That includes vape shops, supermarkets, convenience stores, market stalls, and all UK-based online retailers. The ban is nationwide and applies across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

If you plan to continue using disposables for now, it’s smart to stock up before the end of May. Just keep in mind that popular brands and flavours may sell out early as demand spikes in the final weeks.

Can You Travel With Them?

That depends on where you’re going. While the UK ban doesn’t stop you from carrying disposable vapes for personal use, other countries have their own rules—and some are a lot stricter. A few countries ban disposable vapes entirely, even in hand luggage. Others only allow small quantities for personal use.

Before you fly, make sure you check the vape laws at your destination. Most airlines require that you pack vapes in your carry-on, not checked luggage. Also, be cautious when vaping in airports or public transport—some places have strict rules and signage about where vaping is allowed.

What If Shops Still Sell Them After June?

Any UK business caught selling disposable vapes after June 1, 2025, will be breaking the law. That includes selling in person, online, or through third parties. Penalties are serious and could include fines up to £5,000, seizure of illegal stock, and even up to 2 years in prison for repeat or deliberate offenders. Authorities like Trading Standards, Border Force, and the MHRA will be responsible for enforcement.

At Vape and Go, we’ll fully comply with the law. All disposable vape products covered by the ban will be removed from our store before the deadline.

Still not sure what to switch to? No problem. We’re here to help you move to refillable or rechargeable vape kits that are legal, reliable, and just as enjoyable to use. Send us a message and we’ll find something that fits your style.

Final Tips from Vape and Go

Don’t panic—disposable vapes might be going, but there are plenty of better, legal options already available. Refillable and rechargeable devices offer more control, longer life, and serious savings over time.

If you’re unsure what to switch to, we’re here to help. Our team can recommend the right setup based on the disposable you’re using now, your preferred nicotine strength, and your favourite flavours.

Disposable Vape Ban – FAQ

When does the ban on disposable vapes start?

The ban officially begins on June 1, 2025. From that date, it will be illegal to sell or supply disposable vapes anywhere in the UK, both in physical shops and online.

Can I still use the disposable vapes I already own after the ban?

Yes, you can. The ban applies only to the sale and supply of disposable vapes. If you've already bought them, you're allowed to keep using them after the deadline.

What products are actually banned?

The ban covers any single-use vape that is not rechargeable and not refillable. That includes both nicotine and nicotine-free disposables, as well as big puff devices that aren't designed to be reused.

Can I still buy disposable vapes online after June 1, 2025?

No. After the ban takes effect, it will be illegal for any UK-based online retailer to sell disposable vapes. You won’t be able to order them legally from UK websites.

What should I switch to if I use disposables?

The best alternatives are refillable pod kits or rechargeable vape kits. These are legal, more cost-effective in the long run, and far better for the environment.

Are there any flavour bans as part of this?

No specific flavour ban is included in this legislation, but further regulations may follow, especially for flavours seen as attractive to young people. For now, you can still enjoy the same flavours in bottled e-liquids for refillable devices.

Will Vape and Go keep selling disposables up to the deadline?

Yes, we’ll continue offering disposables until it’s no longer legal to do so. However, we expect many products to sell out early due to high demand and changes in supply. We recommend stocking up well before May 2025.

Can I travel abroad with disposable vapes after the ban?

That depends on where you're going. While the UK ban doesn’t restrict personal travel with disposables, some countries have stricter vape laws. Always check the rules for your destination before travelling with any vape products.

What happens if a shop sells disposables after the ban?

Shops that continue selling banned disposable vapes after June 1, 2025, can face serious penalties. These include heavy fines, confiscation of products, and possible legal action or imprisonment, depending on the location and level of offence.

Why is the UK banning disposable vapes?

The government is banning disposables to tackle two growing problems: youth vaping and environmental waste. These devices are often used by underage users and contribute to millions of discarded batteries and plastics every week. The ban is a step toward protecting public health and reducing harmful waste.
